National Prep Wrestling Championships Awards
Each year at the Championships, the National Prep Wrestling Championships Board recognizes the outstanding efforts of athletes and coaches with a variety of awards including: the Gerald Lehman Outstanding Wrestler Award, the Bob Dalling Most Falls in Least Time Award, the Neil Buckley Outstanding Service Award, the Major Ray Mendoza Award, the NWCA National Prep Coach of the Year, the NWCA Assistant National Prep Coach of the Year, the Officials' Team Sportsmanship Award, and the Jimmy Detrixhe Memorial Undergraduate Team Award.
The Billy Sheridan Team Award. The National Prep Wrestling Championships awards the Billy Sheridan Award annually to the team that scores the most points in the tournament. The award is named in honor of former Lehigh University Head Wrestling Coach Billy Sheridan. Sheridan spent thirty-nine years at the helm of the Lehigh wrestling program.

The Gerald Lehman Outstanding Wrestler Award. The Gerald Lehman Outstanding Wrestler Award is given to the National Prep Wrestling Champion who has the most exceptional tournaments, as voted on by the National Prep Wrestling Championships Board. The award is named after Gerald Lehman, Olympic Silver medalist and head coach of Lehigh University from 1953-1970.

The Bob Dalling Most Falls in the Least Time Award. The wrestler who registers the most falls in least aggregate time at the National Prep Wrestling Championships receives the Bob Dalling Most Falls in Least Time Award, named after Bob Dalling, longtime head coach of Blair Academy.

The Neil Buckley Outstanding Service Award. Each year at the National Prep Wrestling Championships, the National Prep Board recognizes a coach, official, or member of the National Prep Wrestling community for their outstanding service to the sport of wrestling by awarding the Neil Buckley Outstanding Service Award. It is named after longtime Haverford School head coach Neil Buckley.

The Major Ray Mendoza Award. The Major Ray Mendoza Award is given annually at the National Prep Wrestling Championships to the athlete who scores the most team points at the tournament. The award is named in honor of Blair Academy wrestler Ray Mendoza, who served with honor in the military. Mendoza was killed in action in Iraq in 2005.

NWCA National Prep Coach of the Year Award. The National Prep Wrestling Championships Board recognizes the most outstanding coach each year with the NWCA National Prep Coach of the Year award, sponsored by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.

NWCA National Prep Assistant Coach of the Year Award. Also sponsored by the National Wrestling Coaches Association, the NWCA National Prep Assistant Coach of the Year is awarded to the assistant coach who has made a significant impact on their sport and the athletes they coach.

Officials’ Team Sportsmanship Award. The Officials’ Team Sportsmanship Award is voted on by the pool of officials at each year’s National Prep Wrestling Championships and given to the school that shows the most sportsmanship behavior and actions throughout the tournament.

The Jimmy Detrixhe Memorial Undergraduate Team Award. Given to the National Prep Wrestling Championships team that scores the most team points using only undergraduate wrestlers (grades 9-12). The award is named in honor of Jimmy Detrixhe, a former Lehigh University All-American who was killed in action in Vietnam. The award was given from 1982-2002.
